June 6: The Singin' The Blues For MS benefit is in Rum Boogie next Sunday June 11th. So far, I know that I'm mixing Kirk Smithhart Band with Preston Shannon & Johnny May is going to mix James Govan & the Boogie Blues Band with Rufus Thomas. As far as I know, all the performers, even Johnny and I... are donating our work this night to raise funds for fighting Multiple Sclerosis. Please come enjoy this special night and help fight MS!

June 19th will find me & Kirk Smithhart Band in Nashville. I'm really looking forward to visiting my old hometown! :) The band has a showcase of sorts at the Bourbon Street Boogie & Blues Bar. Take a moment to let the Nashvillians know how you rate Kirk Smithhart Band... Click here!

As my Crosswinds site has been up & down like a yoyo, and I noticed that FortuneCity has finally fixed the problems at my old site... I have started a BluesVue II ;) How wonderful to ftp to my heart's content, once again. I have faith in www.crosswinds.net, tho. They have photos of their new server equipment on the updates page and I bet things will be much improved. I certainly apreciate the AD-FREE free site they provide me with here! Not to mention the very personable way they run things. But, as I have missed the ability to update my site in a timely manner, for some weeks now... I suggest bookmarking both BluesVue! & BluesVue II.

I have reorganized the archives pages a bit by showing the featured CDs at the top of the pages. Eventually I may need to scale it back somehow, but this is better for now.

June 4: Got the entertainment schedules updated for June. Out of time for now...

May 14: Between my schedule, connection, and Crosswinds' equipment problems... I've had a heckuva time getting my site updated this month!

We didn't have our usual 10 - 15 extra bands during the Memphis In May - Beale Street Music Festival this year. It was kinda neat to have our regular awesome weekend lineup of James Govan & The Boogie Blues Band and The Kirk Smithhart Band in Rum Boogie. Matt Tudor & Steve Reid put on their fantastic unplugged show in Blues Hall. And, if we didn't break our clubs' alltime record sales for the weekend... we came mighty close :)
I never did get the final word on that, yet...

I've come across some good LiveOntheNet clips of Kirk Smithhart Band live at BB King's...

You must have the latest RealPlayer and the free account set up with LiveOntheNet, but it's well worth your efforts to checkout these and the countless other online shows they offer up.

April 1: Finally snagged a cover shot of Kirk's CD from Memphis Music Connection, thanks! And I see MMC also has made some really nice changes. Love the Hot Picks page and all the new artwork... the site is really comin' on strong now :) You folks can purchase The Kirk Smithhart Band CD, as well as most all the others I have featured on my site, online at Memphis Music Connection... so check em out!

The Kirk Smithhart Band is now also sharing the weekend spotlight with James Govan & The Boogie Blues Band in Rum Boogie this month and most likely next month... as we all know May is our biggest month of the year... aka Memphis In May. Be sure and check out the Rum Boogie & Blues Hall Entertainment Schedules for exact dates and times.

Hope Kirk doesn't kill me, but I decided that since he won't work up one of my favorites of his from the CD for their current live show... LOL... I'd just feature it on my site for awhile :p This tune has a great beat and I can dance to it, so I'm giving it a 10. Enjoy!

Blues Hall is coming along nicely. We got the OLD upright piano moved to the stage & tuned up real nice. It is a beautiful thing to listen to great music & sounds at a reasonable volume.

March 12: The Blues Hall Juke Joint & Coffeehouse has been open a full week today. I'm working 4 evening shifts in there this month. Kirk Smithhhart & Zack Farley kept the room full from 6pm - 10pm last night... and with our weather having turned much cooler... the espresso, cappucino & coffee drinks were quite popular. Actually haven't worked that hard in a long time. Very relieved to be going back to twiddling knobs in Rum Boogie the next 3 nights ;) Yep, that equates to me working every night in one capacity or the other the rest of this month.

February 28: A fairly quiet month... the calm before the storm, no doubt! You may note the absence of junkyardmen from the links page, as well as the Rum Boogie schedule. Not to fear! You may still enjoy the bluesome groove of 3 of the original 4, plus Victor (Robbie makes a mental note to remember last names better) the new drummer, as The Barnstormers ;) Billy Gibson, Jesse Hoggard, Kevin Sheahan & Victor have definitely got the bluesfire goin' on! Given the magical intensity of these 4 guys... The Barnstormers is the perfect name for them! You simply must come see them, but please **note** The Barnstormers as well as Kirk Smithhart Band are now swapping up Mondays & Tuesdays in Rum Boogie, instead of Sundays & Mondays.

The Blues Hall Juke Joint & Coffeehouse will be celebrating the grand opening March 5th and seeing what great unplugged music is gonna be in there... please keep an eye on the Blues Hall Entertainment Schedule! I tried to call Alex to get the latest scoop prior to this update, but he's in a meeting of course ;) What I do know is we will have great coffees and nibbles, some really cool STAX memorabilia, neat places to sit and enjoy them... complete with 2 rows of authentic old Orpheum seats in the stage area, which will be a cozy parlor type setting stage area. The amount of work that has gone into remodeling has been a good month or two project. So please come see us!!!

Johnny Sansone who has played Blues Hall the last few Zydeko Fests was even sentimental about it all... he said "Guess I'll be putting together an acoustic act for next year" and then he proceeded to rock Blues Hall in electrifyin style. Carson told me to tell him to plan on that unplugged Zydeco thing next year :)

January 28: My connection has been truly treacherous the past 2 weeks, thus a continued lack of attention to my site. Hopefully I can get a couple of quick things noted.
Billy Gibson's CDs can be purchased online at Memphis Music Connection. Those of you looking for The Kirk Smithhart Band CD can find it there, as well. Such a nice surprise I got today in the form of an email from Bluescruisers, Frank & Nel. Blues enthusiasts from the Netherlands with a great site, where I found they have The Juke Joints along with several other bands featured. Some of you may remember them from BluesStock '98 in Blues Hall :) I'll be adding them a link on the BluesVue Links page asap.

January 22: Had a couple suggestions to change my page colors for better readability ;) Please let me know what you think... just this main page is changed for today. Gotta run for now.

January 3: A resolution kept... finally got the BluesVue Bio page written!

January 2: My first y2k photo :)
